Library News

A number of children have completed the Summer Reading Challenge run by The Reading Agency and local libraries.  But there is still time (until 22nd September) for others to finish reading their 6 books and get awarded a certificate and medal.  Duston, St James, Hunsbury, Weston Favell and the library in the town centre are the nearest libraries to Upton Meadows and will all be glad to encourage young readers to enjoy reading in this way.

To further encourage reading among our children, we are continuing our links with The Book People.  If you use the code on the library page of our school website ( when buying books, we shall receive a percentage of the sale price and gain vital funding for the library.

In addition, any voluntary donations received on Thursday 13th September (when we mark Roald Dahl day by dressing up as one of his book characters) will be added to library funds for the purchase of new books.

And to close our first week back, Friday 14th September is International Dot Day with creative activities in the reading shed.  The inspiration behind this being an international bestseller called 'The Dot' by Peter H. Reynolds.  Take a look at  The children are making their mark at break and lunchtime, creating an all-together picture. More to follow on @uptonlibrary.
